Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran was one of ABC's first Shark investors has been part of each episode of Shark Tank. She has been involved in 53 deals since February 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 purchase to provide 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran, who was the second of 10 children from a working-class Irish-Catholic family was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a skilled worker throughout Corcoran's childhood. Sometimes, her family depended on food delivery for free from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who was drunk sometimes and was rude to her mother. Corcoran struggled in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
